Cayman Islands Locations

The Cayman Islands is a British Overseas Territory in the western Caribbean Sea. It comprises of three islands; Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman  all located south of Cuba, northeast of Costa Rica, north of Panama, east of Mexico and northwest of Jamaica.

Grand Cayman

Cosmopolitan Grand Cayman Island is the largest of the three Cayman Islands. With over 60,000 residents, Grand Cayman is approximately 76 square miles.  It has wonderful beaches including the stunning Seven Mile Beach, Smith's Cove, Spotts Beach, Rum Point, Cayman Kai and South Sound.  All with their own unique flavour.  Relax or enjoy watersports at Seven Mile, do some turtle spotting at Spotts or snorkel with the fish at Smiths' Cove, enjoy a famous Mudslide cocktail at Rum Point or go for a peaceful walk along South Sound beach.

With the capital George Town as the main business district, here you will find many businesses including law firms, accounts, banks and other financial hubs.  There are also many restaurants and shops in George Town or nearby Camana Bay where you will find many designer outlets.

If you want to get off the beaten path and are looking for adventure on your Cayman Islands vacation, then planning a trip to visit to Cayman Brac is a must. Named for its breathtaking 140 ft bluff, the “Brac” is a rugged and charming 14 square miles and provides adventure seekers and nature lovers with the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of our islands’ most dramatic scenery, exotic flora and fauna. Those of us who make our home on Cayman Brac take great pride in our island.

Cayman Brac

With a population of less than 1,800,  this is a slower pace of life to Grand Cayman but only a thirty minute plane ride away.   The Bluff offers breathtaking views of the ocean and there are many natural limestone caves to explore.

Cayman Brac is also well known for its spectacular diving locations with wall dives and wreck dives for all levels.  With some lovely beach resorts it attracts many tourists to the island where there is plenty to explore including some amazing wildlife such as Booby Birds and Rock Iguanas.

Little Cayman

The least developed and the smallest and most tranquil of the three Cayman Islands, Little Cayman epitomizes the definition of “an island getaway.” This beautiful island offers seclusion and striking scenery everywhere you look.

With a population of less than 170, most of Little Cayman remains uninhabited. Only ten miles long and one mile wide, this island getaway offers you a rare combination of sun drenched solitude, glistening beaches, and miles of untouched tropical wilderness.

Bloody Bay Wall Marine Park is one of the most popular dive sites with adventure seekers from around the world, it’s full of life and vibrant colour and is famous for its dramatic drop offs and swim throughs.

Little Cayman is also home to the largest colony of Red-Footed Boobies in the western hemisphere and a visit to the Visitor’s Centre at the Booby Pond Nature Reserve is a bird watchers dream. Along with 20,000 Red-Footed Boobies, the reserve is also home to around 350 magnificent Frigate Birds.
